Principal's Blog

Greetings Panther Community,

As I write this last blog of the school year, it's hard to tell where the time has gone. It seems to have flown by so quickly and almost more quickly each year. Although I am excited about what next year holds at PMS, it is so important to reflect on each year in its entirety.

This has been a year to remember for sure. We have seen multiple data points improve in regards to safety and learning. We have seen tremendous success of all of our Fine Arts programs with incredible artwork, 1st place finishes in Theatre and unanimous superior ratings in Band and Choir. Our Athletics, Dance and Kickstart programs have once again competed for district and state championship honors and have numerous individual accolades earned. I am so proud of our students, teachers and staff for the tireless effort and commitment to learning and success.

Thank you parents and families for supporting our students every day, none of these achievements are possible without your support of our students at home and for many of you, your support on our campus throughout the year. Thanks for partnering with us and our parent-teacher organization.

As we finish the year strong this week, here are the last few events and activities.

Band Percussion Concert - Tomorrow Night (May 18th at 7 pm) at the Pflugerville HS PAC:

Come out and support our panther percussionists performing at the PHS PAC tomorrow evening! These students have been an integral part of the success of our Panther Band this school year. Please contact Mr. Cook at the high school for questions!

8th Grade Graduation/Advancement Ceremony - Tuesday, May 19th@ 6:15 pm: (Student Arrival - 5:30-5:45 pm) at the Pflugerville High School PAC:

Panther Pfamilies, we have adjusted the time frame of the awards to ensure everyone has time to get off of work and get to the ceremony on time. We ask families to limit attendance to four seats per household, but we do understand that you may have extended family members who need to attend. The PHS PAC has almost 1,000 seats, but the event is usually crowded. Everyone will have a seat if we fill in all available spots. PLEASE make sure there are no open seats, so everyone coming in, fill to the front row and in to the middle seats, so we won't have families standing in the back. Thanks!!

Last Day of School is Early Release: May 21st @ 12:45 pm - May 21st:

We will be on a shortened schedule our last day of school. Students will not be allowed to bring backpacks, but small bags for hygiene materials are allowed or clear backpacks.

8th Grade Parents - Important Note from the Pflugerville High School Counseling Team about the 2026-27 School Year:

Course requests from SchooLinks have now been transferred into Skyward as we begin preparing for the 2026–2027 school year. Please log in to your Skyward student account to review your selected courses.

You can also check your email from Schoolinks. This email will include a link to your student's Personal Graduation Plan, which includes their course selections for next school year. Please review your student's plan, and once reviewed, submit your approval.

On Monday, April 20 we will begin planning for next school year with our course request information, and we will be unable to make updates at that time.

Please note: If a student remains enrolled in an advanced or AP course after May 21st and later decides to move to an on-level course, they must wait until the fourth week of the next school year to request a level change. At that time, all requests must be approved by the associate principal, counselor, teacher, and parent, and approval is not guaranteed (PFISD Course Guide 2026-2027, page 29). See the link below.

This process is designed to ensure that course placements best meet each student’s academic needs. Requests are reviewed carefully and must be based on academic reasons. Approval requires a majority recommendation from the teacher, student, parent/guardian, counselor, and administration, and is considered only after all appropriate supports and interventions have been attempted.

If a request is approved, the student’s unweighted grade will transfer to the new course.

You can reach out to your student's counselor with any questions.

Hello Panther Pfamilies,

Last night's 8th grade formal was truly a team effort! The work of our 8th grade parents, families and teachers alongside Mrs. Mendoza, was truly amazing. They all worked so hard and transformed our cafeteria into an environment that resembled a high school prom setting. Thank you to everyone who spent countless hours planning, prepping and breaking down all of our supplies and decorations the past few days. This was a tremendous experience for our students and that was everyone's main goal.

As we move through the last 3 weeks of school, here is what to look forward to and plan for, if you will be attending any of our end-of-year events. We have dates and times for the academic awards, pet clinic, 8th grade advancement ceremony, panther library book fair and much more:

8th Grade Formal Pics:

For our families who didn't get to see the hard work from our volunteers and staff, here are a few to give you a better picture.

8th Grade Parents - Important Note from the PHS Counseling Team about the 2026-27 School Year:
